Defending Your Tasks | Enthusiasm Character Time Activity
Enthusiasm is: “Expressing joy in each task as I give it my best effort.” This means to have a good attitude and do your best in every situation.
Supplies Needed:
1 square piece of cardboard per child (about 2-3 foot square)
A strip of cardboard a few inches wide and long enough to go around your child’s arm
Markers
Scissors
Tape or glue
To make a shield, cut a circle out of the piece of cardboard. Then tape or glue the strip of cardboard to the back of the circle to form a loop that your child can put their arm through. Next, help your child think of different responsibilities and chores they have like doing the dishes, picking up toys, schoolwork, etc. Let your child use the markers to decorate their shield with pictures of the different responsibilities they thought of. Then, based on those responsibilities, you can think of fun titles for each other like “Keeper of the Dishes” or “Guardian of the Laundry.”
Talk About It: We all have different chores or jobs that are our responsibility. We shouldn’t just do them when we are told or when we have to. Instead, we can see them as a special assignment given to us and do them with enthusiasm. Like a knight that guards a castle, we can “guard” the things that are our responsibility. Some ways we can do this are by treating all of our jobs as important, making sure we get them done when we are supposed to, doing them to the best of our ability, and seeing them as a special mission or assignment just for us. When you see your shield, use it as a reminder to “guard” your chores or jobs by treating each one as important.
