Fingerprints | Attentiveness Character Time Activity
Attentiveness is: “Showing the worth of a person or task by giving my undivided attention.” This means that you can show that someone or something is important by paying close attention to them.
Supplies Needed:
1 piece of paper per child
Different colored ink pads
A black pen or thin-tipped Sharpie
Your child can use their finger and thumbprints to make animals, shapes, vehicles, and more by stamping their fingerprints onto a piece of paper and adding details with a black pen. Have your child examine their fingerprints and see how they are all different from each other, from yours, and from their siblings’.
Note: If you don’t have ink pads, you can use washable markers for the same effect by coloring your child’s fingerprint with the marker then making a print on the paper. You can also have them color on a scrap paper with a pencil, press their thumb on the graphite, press their thumb onto the sticky side of a piece of tape, and then stick the tape onto a piece of white paper.
Talk About It: Each person has a unique fingerprint. Even twins have different fingerprints. God showed attentiveness toward us by designing every person special and unique. Psalm 139:13-18 talks about how God formed each person and knew about them before they were even born. He didn’t just make us, though. John 3:16 tells us that He loves us, and Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that He has good plans for us. He is always attentive and always cares about us. One reason we should show attentiveness to God and others is because God is attentive to us. When you look at your fingerprint picture, remember how God made you special and thank Him for His attentiveness towards you.
