Unfinished! | Responsibility Character Time Activity

Unfinished! | Responsibility Activity

Responsibility is “Accepting and completing the work I am supposed to do.” This means knowing what things you are expected to do and then doing them.

Supplies Needed:
A package of spaghetti or pasta, uncooked
A tomato
A plate

Arrange the uncooked spaghetti on a plate and place the tomato on top. Tell your child that you prepared a meal for them. Then give them the plate and ask them if it is a meal that they would want to eat. If not, ask them why.

Talk About It: Would you want to eat a meal that was only partially prepared, or do you want the person preparing it to do the whole job? You show responsibility by knowing your job and then doing it. That means doing the whole thing, not just some of it or the parts you feel like doing. Completing the whole job could look like cleaning all of your room when you’re told to, doing all of the chores you were asked to do before you go do something else, or making sure you fill out all of your homework. Do you have any jobs that you don’t always completely finish? Practice showing responsibility this week by making sure you finish any chores, jobs, or tasks you are given.

Share a picture of you doing this activity with your child! We’d love to see it!
