What Did Jesus Do? | Humility Character Time Activity

What Did Jesus Do? | Humility Activity

Humility is “Recognizing my proper place in relation to God and others.” This means not thinking of yourself as better or as less important than others, and instead of focusing on yourself, choosing to focus on God and others.

Supplies Needed:
Sticky notes
A pencil
A Bible

Beforehand, write the following Bible references on sticky notes and hide them around the room: Philippians 2:5-11; Luke 2:12; John 13:3-5; Matthew 26:39; 2 Corinthians 8:9. Once they are all hidden, tell your child to find the five sticky notes that are hidden somewhere in the room. After they have found all the sticky notes, take turns reading the passages together and talk about how Jesus showed humility in each one.

Talk About It: The passages you read today were all different examples of how Jesus showed humility. One of the passages was about Jesus washing the disciples’ feet. After Jesus finished, He said, “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you”
(John 13:14-15). If you have been saved and are God’s child, then Jesus wants you to follow His example of humility. That could look like serving those around you, putting others’ needs first, or being obedient to what God wants instead of doing what you want. Practice following Jesus’ example by working on a way you can show humility this week.
