Spray Bottle & Block Tower Illustrations | Gratefulness Activity
Gratefulness is: “Letting others know by my words and actions how they have benefited my life.” This means showing and telling others that you are thankful for all the good they’ve done for you.
Supplies needed:
A spray bottle with water in it
3-4 wooden blocks per person
Fill a spray bottle with water and spray it around the room (it might be fun to spray some on your child as well). When you’re done, ask your child to try to collect all the water and put it back in the bottle.
Next, build a block tower with your child, taking turns adding blocks. In order to place a block on the tower you must say something kind. When all the blocks have been used, have your child think of something unkind that someone has said to them and knock the tower down.
Talk About It: Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” Kind words can build people up and encourage them like you built up the tower with the blocks. But even one unkind word can hurt people and tear them down. We need to be careful what we say because words are so powerful. Just like we can’t put the water back in the spray bottle once it is sprayed out, we can’t take our words back once we say them. To show gratefulness today, use kind words that build others up and that let them know you appreciate them.
