Whole-Hearted Effort | Enthusiasm Character Time Activity

Enthusiasm is: “Expressing joy in each task as I give it my best effort.” This means to have a good attitude and do your best in every situation.

Supplies Needed:
Ingredients for trail mix such as peanuts and other nuts, dried fruit, pretzels, and M&Ms
A large bowl

Make trail mix with your child by combining all the ingredients together in a large bowl, but don’t put in all of every ingredient. Only put in a small amount of each ingredient, such as six peanuts, a few pieces of dried fruit, and two M&Ms. Ask your child if you produced very much trail mix when you only added a little of everything. Then help them add the rest of each ingredient.

Talk About It: If you only put in a small amount of each ingredient, you will only get a small amount in the end. This is true not only in the area of preparing food, though. If we only put a tiny bit of our effort or time into what we do, then the results won’t be as good as they would have been if we had done our best. To show enthusiasm, we need to make sure that, when we do something, we do it wholeheartedly. This means not holding back but doing our very best even when we might not feel like it. Try to give your best effort by putting things where they belong when cleaning up, by taking the time to do your school work correctly, and by doing your tasks with a good attitude. Practice showing enthusiasm by putting all of your effort and energy into what you are doing.
