Covering It Up | Truthfulness Character Time Activity

Covering It Up | Truthfulness Activity

Truthfulness is: “Earning future trust by accurately reporting past facts.” This means that when you are honest and tell the truth about things that have happened, people will know they can trust you now and in the future.

Have your child put the toy in one of the plastic bags and wrap the bag around it. Then, without taking it out of the first bag, have them put the toy in a second bag. Continue to do this until they are out of bags.

Talk About It: When you tell a lie, it doesn’t just go away. It might seem easier to cover up the lie rather than admit to it, but in the end, that only makes things worse. Covering up a lie is like when you wrapped the toy up in bags. Every time you added a bag, it didn’t go away; it just got bigger. When we lie and try to cover it up, we may have to keep adding to it to keep it hidden. This doesn’t help the problem go away. Instead, it only makes it worse. Sometimes we might not have lied on purpose. Maybe we just made a mistake or did something accidentally. When we realize our mistake, it’s important not to cover it up. To show truthfulness, rather than covering up what you did wrong, be honest about what you did or what happened as soon as possible.

He who covers his sins will not prosper,
But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
Proverbs 28:13
